EBN recently published an extremely important article titled, "When is a Generic Not a Generic" that highlights the increase of prescription drug costs for employers and the importance of pharmacy benefit managers (PBM). 

EBN addresses that one of the most beneficial reasons for an employer working with a PBM is that they can save employers a significant amount of money through buying power. These savings are then passed along to customers in the form of discounts that are often referred to as percent savings from an average wholesale price. 

"This may seem like a simple agreement; however, PBMs can also dictate what they consider a brand name drug and a generic, and which drugs are excluded altogether from a performance guarantee."
